Under the direction of the Admissions Director, the Admissions Asst is delegated the administrative authority, responsibility and accountability necessary to carry out assigned duties.
The primary purpose of the position is to obtain required information and admit residents in an efficient manner, in accordance with established policies and procedures, and as directed by the Admissions Director.
REPORTING:
This position is responsible to the Admissions Director.
FLSA STATUS:
Non-Exempt ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ability to type 40 WPM, and use 10-key calculator by touch Possess basic knowledge of computers and associated office equipment Must be able to perform accurate data input Assist in interviewing residents/guardians and obtaining required information and signatures.
Including discussion of room rates, billing procedures, visitor/guest privileges, restrictions, resident care procedures as appropriate Assist in the orientation program for residents/personnel in accordance with established policies and procedures Prepare identification records for resident Maintain accurate record of available beds Admit, transfer and discharge residents in accordance with established policies and procedures Develop and maintain business relationship with Discharge Planners (DCP's), Case Management team members (CMT's), Hospital Specialists (HS), and Physicians (Dr.
's) Maintain various logs and data pertaining to resident placement status Maintain detailed data for all aspects of the job being performed, including, but not limited to, room rates, billing procedures, visitor/guest privileges, restrictions, waiting lists, monthly census, etc.
Knowledge of current Medicare/Medicaid regulations pertaining to admission and discharge requirements of health care communities Willingness to attend and participate in in-service educational classes and in facility functions as required Maintain confidentiality of pertinent resident data JOB FUNCTIONS:

Must possess the ability to pursue new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing admission practices Be able to follow written and oral instructions Be knowledgeable in the use of computers, data input and output, etc.
Must be tactful, and posses cheerful disposition and enthusiasm Other duties as assigned PHYSICAL CAPACITIES:
(With or Without the Aid of Mechanical Devices) Must be able to move intermittently throughout the workday.
Must be able to see and hear or use prosthetics that will enable these senses to function adequately to ensure that the requirements of this position can be fully met.
Must meet the general health requirements set forth by the policies of this facility which includes an annual TB screening and physical examination.
Must be able to sit, stand and walk.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Must be able to cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
Primarily inside work, normal temperatures, some noise, occasional fumes/odors, chemical exposure and potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens.
This job cannot be performed without exposure to the stresses associated with an intimate, 24 hour skilled care environment that delivers care and services primarily to disabled and cognitively impaired residents in an aging population.
Examples of these stresses include, but are not limited to:
emergency health or safety response, weekend and holiday duty, unusual or impaired behavior by residents, family reactions to having a loved one in a nursing home, death and dying, oversight of state surveyors, ombudsmen and federal officials, presence of consultants and attorneys, and variable involvement of medical staff.
QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

High School graduate or equivalent License:

Experience:
1 year clerical experience Ability to operate office equipment Possess basic knowledge of computers and related equipment Ability to perform data entry Ability to organize office files, reports, and other, as needed Language Skills:
Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical information, and to be easily understood through verbal communication in the English language.
Mathematical Skills:
Must be able to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to perform these operations using units of weight measurement, and volume.
Communication Skills:
Must have exceptional communication and customer service skills, and be empathetic.
Ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, responsible parties, staff and outside resources and agencies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
